LIGHT ?

Daily basis functions of our lives cannot happen without the proper illumination of the space where we live and work. To benefit from light, we need to know about light.

Light needed to illuminate a space could be natural or artificial.

  • Natural light - light from the sun and moon.

  • Artificial light - materialistically made lighting system and its sources.

A prominent difference between the two is natural light does not cost you a penny and artificial lights as we know from lights and its fittings to wiring and its connection, power consumption everything costs you.

Light can be further categorised on the basis of its function.

  • Ambient light - which can comprise of natural light or artificial light. This light is commonly used to illuminate an entire space for visibility and safety.

  • Task light - an extra light for special task which requires more luminosity and minimum it should be three times brighter than general light. Like study room, library, lab, operation theatre, factories, etc.

  • Accent light - its totally used for beauty and glamour. To make the objects such as paintings, sculptures and architectural features stand out.

Light is an element of design which functions with bauty. To make it more beautiful and easy to function we have the traditional fittings and holders, like chandelier, scone, lamp-shade, and the simple cotemporary holders which comes in wide range of designs.

It is impossible to avoid artificial light and its cost. But we can save money if we use the natural light cleverly. So when we are designing an interior space. We have to figure out how to let in the natural light which could be a sufficient alternative. Look at the pictures below to get the basic idea. of using the natural light creatively.

Fixtures for task lighting and accent lighting comes in various shapes and sizes. Some fixtures can be used for both the purpose and some depends upon the need and particular amount of light you want to use. Few pictures are given below.
