Curtains have been used to accessorize homes since civilization. As the time passed, look and the material used for the curtains have changed. But the purpose remained the same and they are not just decoration tools. They are also utility furnishings, used to block light, sound, heat, cold and provide privacy to the homes, as well as the inhabitants. Variety of fabrics used for curtains are satin, silk, cottton, organdy, organza, etc. Use of fabric depends upon the personal need.
There are certain ways of making your curtains look beautiful.
Pleats - pleat is like a heading on the top portion of a curtain. So the beauty of pleats is only visible when you are using it with rod and brackets. Earlier the pleats were not so fashionable. So the pelmets were used to hide the pleats and pelmets were quite in fashion, basically made of wood. But slowly the curtain makers started to experiment and invented designer stitching of pleats. Soon the style was adopted with two benefits.
(1). got rid of pelmets and its extra cost.
(2). designer rods and brackets came into fashion which is the contemporary stylish look.

Rods and brackets - For pleated curtains, different type of designer rods and brackets are available made of metal and wood.

Curtain rings and hooks made of metal and plastic.
Tie-backs and linings - tassels, trims and laces which are made of threads and beads are used for the making of tie-backs and bottom & side lining. Flowers, bows and figures made of fabric are also used for making the tie-backs.








Hold-backs - used for holding the gathering of curtains at sides. The purpose is similar to tie-backs. Hold-backs are made of metal and wood.


Drapes and valances - to make the curtains look heavenly.
